Wednesday 16 June - Football ACE / National Club Accreditation Scheme Update
Football Federation Victoria's club development program Football ACE is designed to reward clubs that are continually trying to improve their operation whilst creating model football clubs throughout Victoria.
A five level program was originally developed, however only the first level, "Group Stage" has been released to FFV clubs.
To date, just over 50 affiliated clubs have completed the "Group Stage" and received a reward pack of footballs and equipment.
Football Federation Australia has announced that after working closely with FFV to develop the Football ACE Program, it will be releasing a National Club Accreditation Scheme (NCAS). Similar to the Football ACE Program, the NCAS will contain four levels, with clubs progressing from Level 1 through to Level 4. The levels will be depicted as stars, meaning the highest level a club can achieve, Level 4, will make them a "4 Star Club".
While the NCAS is being developed, the Football ACE Program will still be be current, however it will be taken over by the NCAS when it is ready to be rolled out. Clubs that complete the first level of Football ACE, will automatically receive Level 1 national accreditation through the NCAS.
A full brief has been prepared, which includes all the information clubs will need regarding this change. Click on the following link to download a copy of the brief.

What is Football ACE?
The Football ACE Program is football's state wide club development program designed by Football Federation Victoria (FFV) and supported by Sport and Recreation Victoria (SRV).
The program is aimed at:
- Achieving Club Excellence (ACE)
- Fostering best practise in club management and development
- Ensuring existing and new club members receive a quality experience when they join a club
- Providing an environment that is attractive to sponsors as well as developing a sense of community with all key stakeholders
How does Football ACE work?
Football ACE comprises five levels of improvement and achievement that clubs can strive to attain in order to fulfil their desired improvement objectives. At each level clubs are required to implement change and adopt certain FFV policies to ensure they meet the criteria required at each level.
The five levels of achievement are:
- Level 1 – Group Stage
- Level 2 – Second Round
- Level 3 – Quarter Finals
- Level 4 – Semi Finals
- Level 5 – Final
Clubs that meet the criteria and achieve accreditation at each of the levels will receive incentives from FFV in terms of equipment, discounts on coaching and educational courses and other items to be determined by FFV.
Clubs will need to be able to supply supporting documentation, where required, to ensure that each criteria have been met before they become accredited at each particular level.
For Football ACE a club is defined as the entire incorporated body. Only one application per incorporated body will be accepted. For example, some clubs have separate committees for their men’s, women’s and junior sections but all come under the same incorporation name and are therefore one incorporated body. It is recommended that all committees work together as one on Football ACE as it is designed to help clubs create a welcoming and inclusive football club.
Group Stage Accreditation is valid for one (1) year from the date of FFV approval. To maintain your club’s status within the Football ACE Program your club must re-submit your Group Stage Accreditation Form and maintain compliance with all criteria. However, your club will only be eligible to receive the incentives for Group Stage once.
How much does it cost to participate?
Thanks to the support of the Victorian State Government Football ACE is completely free for clubs to participate in.
Does my Club have to participate?
Yes, all clubs across Victoria are required to participate. How far your club progresses in the program is entirely up to each club’s committee and will be determined by the level of improvement and assistance each club chooses to undertake.
All clubs competing in Metropolitan FFV run competitions are required to achieve Group Stage Accreditation before the start of the 2010 Season. If clubs don’t achieve this they risk their affiliation with FFV and as such may not be eligible to compete in an FFV run competition in 2010.
Why does my Club need to participate?
The development and aim of Football ACE is to assist clubs to improve and create inclusive club environments with the capacity to provide quality football experiences to the wider community.
When does Football ACE begin?
The Football ACE Program will begin in 2009 and be piloted with Metropolitan clubs throughout the 2009 season.
It is envisaged that all clubs will have been introduced to the program by the end of 2009 and all FFV Metropolitan Clubs will have achieved Group Stage Accreditation by the start of the 2011 season.
FFV will work with all Regional Associations throughout 2009 to effectively manage the roll out of Football ACE to all Regional Clubs.
The remaining four levels of Football ACE will be completed and piloted throughout 2009 for roll out to clubs in 2010.
How will FFV support my club in participating in this program?
As part of Football ACE there is a comprehensive club resource pack that each club will receive. This pack consists of user friendly resources, supporting information, templates, examples and other useful information to assist clubs in completing the criteria at each level.
In addition to this FFV will be working with partnering organisations (Sports Medicine Australia, Good Sports and SportEd Victoria) to bring you a series of workshops from 2009 which will up-skill your club members and help you achieve some of the criteria in the Football ACE Program.
Further to this FFV staff are available to help your club work its’ way through the Football ACE Program. This can involve club visits or assistance with any of the criteria.
If your Club is yet to receive it's "Football ACE pack", or would like some assistance, contact FFV Club Development Coordinator, Ben Gross:
